Something strange happened today. I opened my Amazon sales dashboard to find sales of my 2018 short story Relic of the Damned climbing through the stratosphere.
Relic is a short that I published six years ago and listed for free. Last year it caught the eye of less than one person a day. It’s actually my least favorite of the tasteless, problematic YA shorts I’ve written.
Was it an Amazon algorithm? Did it catch someone’s fancy on BookTok? Was it seen sticking out of Taylor Swift’s handbag? Was someone upset railing against it? I don’t know!
I’m thrilled! Truly! I also want to let new readers know a few things to help them navigate the Rot Gut Pulp landscape:
I have a novel that’s better than all the short stories.
No Good About Goodbye is my debut 2021 novel about Ian Racalmuto dealing with loss, life changes, and having a huge crush on his best friend, all while people are trying to kill him. It’s a hoot. It got a great review from IndieReader, and was awarded an IndieBrag seal in 2022.
Please—buy it! It’s $3.99 well spent.
No Good About Goodbye is in wide release. I keep the cost for the eBook bare bones, but it’s also available in Paperback at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or wherever you like to order books.
It’s clever, fun and funny.
You can buy all the Rot Gut Pulp short stories at once for your Kindle
That’s right: for the same price as buying the two sequels, Death in the City of Dreams and Curse of the Emerald Buddha!, together, you can buy all five stories published by Rot Gut Pulp in one sweet box set. This set is only available for Kindle. Don’t have a Kindle? Read on!
Look for the three Ian Racalmuto shorts in print later this month!
That’s right - Relic of the Damned!, Death in the City of Dreams, and Curse of the Emerald Buddha! are coming to print later this month in the new compilation Tales of Suspense and Intrigue!
Why might you want it in print? Because I’m adding 9 pulp-like ink illustrations through it’s pages, so you can feel like you’re actually reading a pulp!
Or, maybe you don’t own a Kindle. That’s another good reason.
This collection is so new, I wasn’t even ready to announce it and I don’t have sales links yet. When I do, you will find them here. I’m just waiting for a Library of Congress control number, and handling some last-minute copyright business.
It will be available for order everywhere books are sold.
Again, thank you all for your interest in Relic of the Damned!, wherever it came from! I hope you liked it for what it was, and promise the other stuff I’ve written is even better (for the record, Death in the City of Dreams is, in my mind, my best short). Cheers!
